Physio led bespoke running analysis

Want to improve your running performance and prevent running related injuries? Then come in for our running analysis programme, led by our Running Physio Specialists.

How does it work?

In your 60-minute assessment we will start off with understanding your running related history, lifestyle and goals. A full body mobility and strength assessment follows, plus a video gait analysis taken at different angles to capture elements of your unique running style: including stride length, foot strike, hip alignment and running posture.

We will then talk you through your video footage and, along with the full-body analysis, create a bespoke programme for you. The programme will highlight any problem areas and provide you with strategies to enhance your running technique and prevent pain or injury in the future, while working toward your running-related goal.

Why do it?

Running technique training can be used to improve your efficiency and speed – while also reducing your risk of injury. For every stride you take your ankle, knee and hip absorb roughly 2.5 to 3 times your bodyweight. And if you have poor technique, these figures could easily increase further, which can then cause overload of your soft tissue.

On the other hand, if you have a technique that’s fluid and light you can not only reduce the risk of injury, but also improve your performance.

How do I improve my technique?

After your technique has been properly assessed, there are a number of things that can be done to make you more efficient.

  • Running specific drills
  • Taking cues while doing intervals on a treadmill
  • Mobility exercises
  • Strengthening exercises
  • Education and advice on training load and long-term management

These can all be effective – but should all be done with a coach, as trying to improve your technique independently without feedback could lead you to further issues.

Who can benefit?

Anyone can benefit from a running technique analysis, whether you are starting your running journey or are tackling your 10th marathon! Here is a list below:

  • Returning to running after an injury or simply a break
  • Return to running after pregnancy
  • Avoiding previous running injuries
  • Aiming for a new running event (5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon etc)
  • Training for a trail run and worried about twisting your ankle
  • Going for a new PB!
