Men’s pelvic health
Committed to delivering better outcomes for men’s health
Unfortunately, men too often avoid seeking help for significant men’s health issues. Embarrassment and awkwardness talking about their problems, a lack of awareness of available treatments as well as limited access to life changing treatments are real barriers to better outcomes for men’s health.
APPI’s men’s health service covers a range of conditions including urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, bowel dysfunction, pelvic pain and erectile dysfunction as well as urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction following prostate surgery.
- 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
- Following radical prostate surgery, up to 70% of men suffer from urinary incontinence.
- About 2 in 10 men will have chronic pelvic pain at some point during their lives.
- Erectile dysfunction affects over 50% of people who identify as male between the ages of 40 and 70 as well as adolescents.
- 16% of males over 18 have overactive bladder and its thought to be more common in athletes.
These problems impact heavily on the quality of life, emotional wellbeing and physical ability of men. At APPI, our qualified men’s health therapist is passionate and committed to positively changing the lives of men who need this specialised treatment. We offer a professional and discreet service to help you get back to all that life offers.

Conditions that we can help you with
Chronic Pelvic Pain in Men – It’s Not All in Your Head (or Your Bladder)
Nagging pain in the pelvis that just won’t go away? You’re not imagining it—and you’re definitely not alone. Chronic pelvic pain in men can come from tight muscles, irritated nerves, past infections, or even stress. It’s complicated, but the treatment doesn’t have to be. Think of it as a team effort: therapy to calm things down and get things moving, relaxation techniques to ease tension, and a plan tailored to you. With the right support, you can get back to feeling like yourself again!
Athlete’s Pelvic Pain – Not Just a Sore Groin!
Feeling the pinch around your pelvis every time you run, lift, or twist? You might be dealing with athlete’s pelvic pain—and no, it’s not just “part of the game.” This kind of pain can stem from muscle imbalances, tight hips, overuse, or even sneaky little hernias. The good news? You don’t have to push through it. Treatment often includes physiotherapy to stretch what’s tight, strengthen what’s weak, and get everything moving the way it should. With the right plan, you’ll be back in action—minus the wince—before you know it.
Post-Prostatectomy Incontinence – What Now?
Had your prostate out and now having some leaking? You’re not alone. Post-prostatectomy incontinence is common, but there’s plenty we can do about it. Treatment often starts with pelvic floor exercises (yes, these aren’t just for women!), bladder training, and a few lifestyle tweaks. Think of it as a gym program for your pelvic muscles. Still leaking? No worries—there are advanced options like slings or an artificial sphincter (sounds high-tech, works like a charm). The bottom line? Leaks happen, but with the right help, they don’t have to become your norm and get in the way of life.
Erectile Dysfunction in Men – From Awkward Teens to Wise Adults
Erectile dysfunction (ED) isn’t just an “older man’s” issue—it can show up at any age, from the teenage years to full-grown adulthood. Whether it’s performance anxiety, hormonal changes, lifestyle factors, or health conditions, ED has many causes—and thankfully, many solutions. Treatment can include simple lifestyle changes (think: less stress, more sleep, better food), pelvic floor therapy, counselling, medication, or even medical interventions if needed. No matter your age, you’re not alone—and yes, help is available. The key? Don’t suffer in silence. Your health (and happiness) are worth the chat.
What to expect
Our men’s health therapist, Duncan Craigen, became a men’s pelvic health therapist because he saw a massive gap in care and too many men suffering in silence. Whether it’s post-surgical changes after prostate cancer, persistent pelvic pain, urinary or bowel dysfunction, or performance issues in athletes, he offers skilled, individualised treatment that goes beyond surface-level solutions.
His focus is not just on treatment, but also on education, awareness, and helping men feel more comfortable in their bodies again. His goal is to work together with you and, you’ll find a judgment-free space to ask questions, understand your symptoms, and build a plan that works.
You will be offered a comprehensive 60 minute assessment and diagnosis, which may include an intimate examination. Duncan will then spend time discussing your condition, tailored treatment plan and individual advise. Depending on your condition, treatments range from bladder training for overactive bladder to progressive pelvic floor muscle retraining to ultrasound assisted pelvic floor muscle training and manual therapy for conditions related to pelvic pain.
