Thrive After Cancer: A practical guide to movement to support your recovery after cancer treatment.

Friday 15th May, 1pm
APPI Clinics Wimbledon

Join our breast cancer movement experts, Lucy Pattullo and Cristina Malgarotto for a free educational and supportive session exploring movement, recovery and rebuilding strength after breast cancer.

Designed for anyone at any stage—from diagnosis, through surgery, active treatment to longer-term recovery—this session will offer clear, evidence-based guidance on how to move safely and confidently.

We’ll explore:

  • Why exercise is such a powerful part of recovery—supporting treatment outcomes, reducing side effects and helping to lower recurrence risk.
  • What types of exercise can help, including Pilates and progressive strength training.
  • How to approach movement at different stages, including during active treatment.
  • Recovery after surgery, including mastectomy and reconstruction (such as DIEP).
  • Axillary cording and lymphoedema—prevention, management and movement strategies.
  • Bone health, including exercising for osteopenia and osteoporosis.
  • Managing common treatment side effects through movement, including:
    • fatigue
    • joint aches and stiffness
    • pelvic floor dysfunction
    • peripheral neuropathy
    • reduced balance and coordination
    • brain fog
    • anxiety and sleep disruption

Throughout the session, we’ll incorporate gentle “movement snacks”—simple, practical exercises you can try and take away with you, to support your recovery day to day.

Whether you are newly diagnosed, in treatment, or further along your recovery journey, this session is designed to help you feel informed, supported, and empowered to move well.

Stay after the class to chat to our experts and other breast cancer thrivers, enjoying nutritious snacks and drinks designed to boost breast health.
