Emily Altneu
Pilates Teacher including Pregnancy and Post-natal
Emily has practised Pilates for over 15 years. She originally trained in musical theatre and has worked in the fitness industry since 2009. She views fitness as part-regenerative and part-preventative, while her Pilates practice is all about enjoying a long, happy and healthy life.
Emily is qualified in teaching reformer, cadillac, tower and chair Pilates. She trained with Drummond Education (BASI) and JPilates (Jay Grimes). Emily continues her training weekly with a master teacher from The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado – where they have a direct link to Romana Kryzanowska (who was Joseph Pilates’ protégé). She strikes a balance in her teaching of honouring the classical repertoire and teaching an evolved approach for the 21st century. She is also pre and postnatally qualified.
Outside of work Emily likes to go to the theatre and drink good coffee!
“I’ve really enjoyed turning my living room into a Zoom room – I’m able to give corrections and convey a focus for technique in the same way I would if we were in the studio together. I teach a disciplined class with breath work, fun challenges and some much-needed mobility. A lot of clients appreciate my mad visual cues to keep them smiling as they move.”
Thanks to Emily for a fab class – I’m going to book in for next Thursday. She’s lovely and such a careful teacher.
